My favorite work motto is; 'you get what you give'. Likewise in any negotiation. When you first try to understand your fellow negotiator, delve into his interests and think creatively about how you can increase his pie, you create a negotiating climate from an inner strength where the chance of long-term success is greatest for both. The negotiation process therefore strengthens mutual trust and deepens the relationship.
